Badija is one of the largest island in the Korcula archipelago. It is situated on the east side of Korcula Old Town
, about twenty minutes boat ride from Korcula's harbour. It cover the
area one square km and is covered by dense maquis pine and cypress
trees.
Badija was first mentioned in writing in 14th century by the priest
Vlaho Ivanovic from Korcula, who lived here as a monk. The present
Franciscan monastery and the church date from the 14th century. A stone
monuments found on Badija are proofs that Romans were on the island too.
Badija became a center for sports and tourism.

Badija est l'une des plus grande île de l'archipel de Korcula. Elle est située sur le côté E de la vieille ville de Korcula, à une vingtaine de minutes en bateau du port de Korcula. Elle a une surface de un kilomètre carré et est couverte de pins maquis dense et de cyprès. Badija a été mentionnée en premier lieu par écrit au 14ème siècle par le prêtre Vlaho de Korcula Ivanovic, qui a vécu ici comme un moine. Le monastère franciscain et l'église date du 14e siècle.
