The island, part of the archipelago of Zadar, is located northwest of Otok Molat which it is separated by the channel prolaz Zapuntel (narrow channel with a minimum depth of 6 m).
Otok Ist to the shape of a butterfly with two bays that enter the island on the coast NW and SE.
Ist village is located on the narrow isthmus separating the two bays.
In the resort: grocers, post office, restaurant, doctor.
The port and most of the houses are at the bottom of Uvala Siroka, SE of the island.
Several small islands are located 1 mile on the W side of the island of Ist. A string of islands and narrow shoal extending to 4.4 nm NW of the N of the island.
L'île, qui fait partie de l'archipel des îles de Zadar, est située au NW de Otok Molat dont elle est séparée par le chenal de Prolaz Zapuntel (canal étroit avec une profondeur minimale de 6 m).

Otok Ist à la forme d'un papillon avec deux baies qui pénètrent l'île sur les côtes NW et SE.

Le village de Ist est implanté sur l'isthme étroit qui sépare les 2 baies.

Dans la localité: magasin d'alimentation, poste, restaurant, médecin.

Le port et la plus grande partie des maisons sont au fond de Uvala Siroka, au SE de l'île.

Plusieurs petits îlots se trouvent à 1 mile sur le côté W de l'île de Ist. Une chaîne d'îlots étroits et de hauts-fonds s'étend jusqu'à 4,4 NM au NW de l'extrémité N de l'île.
