La citadelle fut fondée en 1268 par les Gênois et permit de repousser de nombreuses attaques. La dernière date d'août 1794 où 6000 anglais firent siège de la ville. On dit que Christophe Colomb serait né dans une des maisons de Calvi qui ménagent autour du port de petites venelles reliées par des escaliers.
Superbe ville. Bon abris. Mouillage dans la baie.

Les horaires des sanitaires suivent ceux de la capitainerie ce qui n'est pas très pratique.

Le petit "port de pêche" est très sympathique sauf la nuit quand deux cafés sur le quai font office de night-club.
