Description

This small bay is very protected from prevailing winds and swells, which makes it a very safe anchorage. It is dominated by Château Dubuc, a tourist hotspot highlighted by a small museum. The entrance to the bay opens to the south and the eastern part of Galion Bay. Its body of water is protected by a series of reefs south of Pointe Caracoli, and by three reefs that block its entrance. The interior of the bay is calm and conducive to the development of the mangrove which borders it over a good part of its periphery. The shallows consist of seagrass beds and small cays. Deeper, the bottoms are sandy or muddy.

Cette petite baie est très protégée des vents et houles dominants, ce qui en fait un mouillage très sûr. Elle est dominée par le Château Dubuc, haut lieu touristique mis en valeur par un petit musée. L’entrée de la baie s’ouvre vers le Sud et la parie Est de la Baie Galion. Son plan d’eau est protégé par une série de récifs au Sud de la Pointe Caracoli, et par trois récifs qui barrent son entrée. L’intérieur de la baie est calme et propice au développement de la mangrove qui la borde sur une bonne partie de son pourtour. Les hauts fonds sont constitués d’herbiers et petites cayes. Plus profond, les fonds sont sableux ou vaseux.

Mouillage autorisé de jour seulement au pied de l'ancienne usine sucrière Dubuc.
L'accès est difficile car il faut éviter les nombreuses cayes (les récifs).
