The Mariana Trench (or Marianas Trench) is the deepest part of the world's oceans, and the deepest location on the surface of the Earth's crust. It has a maximum depth of about 10,911 meters.

La fosse des Mariannes est la fosse océanique la plus profonde actuellement connue, et l'endroit le plus profond de la croûte terrestre. Elle est située dans la partie nord-ouest de l'océan Pacifique, à l'est des Îles Mariannes aux coordonnées 11°21?N 142°12?E à proximité de l'île de Guam.
Le point le plus bas se situe selon les relevés entre un peu moins de
11 500 mètres et un peu plus de 11 000 mètres de profondeur.

La fossa delle Marianne è la fossa oceanica conosciuta come la più profonda al mondo. È localizzata sul fondo dell'oceano a nord-ovest dell'oceano Pacifico, ad est delle isole Marianne, a 11° 21' nord di latitudine, e 142° 12' est di longitudine, vicino al Giappone. La fossa è delimitata dall'incontro di due placche tettoniche, in una zona di subduzione, dove la placca del Pacifico si insinua sotto la placca delle Filippine. La fossa forma un leggero arco lungo circa 2 500 km. Il punto più profondo supera di 2 061 metri l'altezza del monte Everest, e si trova a 10 916 metri sotto il livello del mare.

La Fosa de las Marianas es la más profunda fosa marina conocida y el lugar más profundo de la corteza terrestre. Tiene su origen en un proceso de subducción. Se localiza en el fondo del Pacífico noroccidental, al sureste de las Islas Marianas (11°21?N 142°12?E?) cerca de Guam. En 1957, la nave sovietica Vityaz reportó una profundidad de 10934 metros. En 1962, el M.V. Spencer F. Baird registró una profundidad de 11022 metros.
