Lake Worth inlet (Palm Beach)

Lake Worth inlet (Palm Beach)

Characteristics

Description

The lake is a long, narrow, and shallow body of water separated from the ocean by an island varying in width from 0.1 to 0.5 mile. Considerable dredging has been done in Lake Worth for private channels and for real estate development. Local knowledge is necessary to carry the best water outside the limits of the marked channels.

There are many excellent and complete marinas and repair yards for yachts along the shores of Lake Worth.

Little Lake Worth, at the north end of Lake Worth, has a basin which in 1969, has depths of 12 to 14 feet. State Route A1A highway bridge across the entrance has a 27-foot fixed span with a clearance of 8 feet.
A privately marked and dredged channel leads northward to Little Lake Worth from the Intracoastal Waterway at Mile 1014.2.
The reported controlling depth is 7 feet.
