Hr Porer (phare Porer) Premantura

Characteristics

Description

Built on an island 80 m wide, 2.5 km from the coast, the lighthouse Porer is located at the extreme southern tip of Istria Western Cape, Cape Kamenjak.
Built in 1833, his lantern rises to 35m. He is still active. Well and automated, it is alternately guarded by two guards. These ensure the maintenance, repaint all surfaces regularly exposed to winds, salt and moisture. There are also constant radio contact with the coast. It also oversees the operation of another lighthouse at sea, the smaller a few miles.
With electricity, the lighthouse has however limited capacity of running water. It depends on the frequency of rain and a well from which access is inside the main building.
