Enjoy what I saw on my first crossing of baltic in August 2007. I am based out of Ventspils, Latvia. An englishman living in Baltic who decided that his boat should come over from UK to join him here. A decision that has proven to be one of the best ever made. Intentions now are to explore the Archipelago further over the coming seasons as well as other areas of the Baltic. Hopefully posting reports on here as the cruises are made.

Stockhom Archipelago ... a marvelous cruising area that has so much to offer to all types of boat. Quiet shallow harbours for the smaller boats able to creep in and anchor off or even tie up to rocks and trees. Deeper harbours offering safe anchorage to the larger boats.
The scenery is breathtaking and clean. The whole area is spotlessly maintained to create an environment to last and provide enjoyment to many.
Summer houses and pontoons abound for the families to holiday away from mainland bustle. For us the visitors, as long as we do not intrude on privacy, you are free to roam and moor just about anywhere.
As I am new to Wikisailing - I will have to find out how to upload and link images .. as I understand this site better - I hope to expand on this amazing location.

It's a night passage from Ventspils, Latvia - my home base to Gotland as the first stop ..

Next day we set of for our Island cruise - assisting another to keep up !!
Into wider waters and a breath of wind ... we cast of Discovery and enjoy a relaxed sail across to our next stop ...

So next morining it's away again and of to next stop ...

We stop for a bit of fuel ...
and then see this ahead ...
and opens out into ...
even I succumb to bathing ... it's warm and glorious ...
A wonderful spot with natural spring water and even a small beach for the kids ...
We take a walk across the island to say goodbye to one crew from other boat ...
Then next day sadly it's our turn to depart back to Latvia .....
Back at Farosund we enjoy another rest stop ....

Well I hope the images have come out ok on here and wetted appetites to explore this amazing area ... reckoned to have near 30,000 rocks, islands etc. So more than enough to keep any cruise happy !
