It's actually the NW( and W) that brings in the swell. Do not seek shelter here if there is f5+ from any direction except ENE, E or SE. All other and especially NW puts a 1-2m swell in the port PLUS there are a number of shallow areas (less than 1.8) close to the quays. I had a nightmarish night early August 2011 in this port and two other boats had it worse (one almost sunk). Thank god for the fishermen who warned us and a local doctor who told us of a "secret" mouillage in the middle of the port that helped us stay clear of the quay.

Le nouveau brise-lames avec son quai ne fut achevé qu'en 1986 et la place ne manque pas pour les visiteurs. C'est une escale pratique entre les Sporades du N et Lesbos.
On s'amarre au nouveau quai par 3 m d'eau sur presque toute sa longueur. Protection correcte du Meltem, mais des vents de NE prolongés crééent du ressac. Ouvert au SW.
