Port Mathurin, capitale et unique port de l'île, doit son nom à un colon français, Mathurin Bréhinier, qui fut l'un des premiers habitants de la région.
Ce petit bourg, accueillant et sympathique, est situé au Nord-Est de Rodrigues, On y accède par la Western passe.

Avec ses bureaux administratifs, ses banques, ses nombreux restaurants et commerces, c'est assurément l'endroit le plus animé de Rodrigues!
