Channel Five is the second of the two marked passages spanned by the Lower Matecumbe Key-Long Key Bridge. It is an important route, not the least reason for wich is the full 65 feet of vertical clearance afforded by the fixed bridge that spans its width. This is the first ICW to Hawk Channel route passage of Angelfish Creek that enjoys such a high-rise clearance, with nary the necessity of a bridge opening.

Channel Five enjoys minimum depth of 7 feet. Most cruisers will not find much of anything less than 8 foot readings on their sounders. This does not mean that Channel Five is not without problems, however.

North of the bridge, shoals flank Channel Five to the E and W. S of the fixed span, shallow water is even more of a problem, with depths of 1 to ahalf-foot lying to the W and 2-foot shoals to the E.

Channel Five bénéficie d'une profondeur minimale de 2,1 m. La plupart des navigateurs ne trouveront pas moins de 2,4 m sur leur sondeurs. Cependant, cela ne signifie pas que Channel Five n'est pas sans problèmes.

Au N du pont, les bancs bordent le Channel Five à l'E et l'W. Au S du pont fixe, l'eau est peu profonde et c'est aussi un problème, une profondeur de 0,3 m ou moins rejoint l'W et une profondeur de 0,6 m s'étend vers l'E.
