Penzance harbour has a wet dock capable of holding craft drawing ft (4.5m) and a drying harbour. The wet dock gates are open from 2 hours before high water until 1 hour after high water. A vertical display of 2 red lights on the mast on the northern side of the gate indicates that the gate is open, while a red light above a green one indicates that the gate is closed.
