In the heart of the town we find the majestic old hospital or hostel that dates from 1346 and was founded by Prince Peter (Infant Pere), the son of James II and Blanca d’Anjou. It provided shelter for pilgrims and travellers passing through the desolate Coll de Balaguer pass. This is the origin of the name l’Hospitalet de l’Infant (Prince’s Hospital).

Situé au centre de la ville se dresse majestueusement l’ancien hôpital datant de 1346, fondé par l’Infant Pere, fils de Jacques II et de Blanche d’Anjou. Sa fonction était d’accueillir les pèlerins et les voyageurs qui passaient par le col de Balaguer. De là provient le nom de l’Hospitalet de l’Infant.
